USCG Drug Testing
The Coast Guard has set some minimum regulations for Drug Testing in the Marine industry. The testing under these regulations is limited marijuana, cocaine, opiates, amphetamines, and phencyclidine or PCP and alcohol. All dangerous drug samples collected as part of these regulations are urine samples and must be analyzed at Health and Human Services (HHS) certified labs in accordance with DOT procedures. A marine employer may have ClearCheks conduct DOT Drug and Alcohol tests more often than required. However, if an employer wishes for Clearcheks to test for additional drugs, the company must keep such a program separate from the DOT required testing program, including separate sample collections.
